This Week In Gaming – July 8 (Our 1st Post)

Theres a lot that went on this week plus get to know us at the end of the article !!

This Weeks News

There was a lot that happened this short week with Independence Day being Monday. I hope everyone had a great holiday. Here are the (IMO) biggest news stories this week:

  • The original Red Dead Redemption as well as GTA IV remasters, have been shelved due to the mishaps with the Definitive GTA Trilogy release as well as them bolstering down on development of GTA VI.
  • Duel Screens announced an indie games showcase on August 17th @ 3 pm EST.
  • Final Fantasy Crisis Core Reunion preorders have went live on amazon.
  • Nacon Connect 2022 revealed Robocop, a new untitled Terminator game, update on Hell Is Us as well as other games.
  • Lollipop Chainsaw is slated to get a remaster with new visuals and soundtracks in 2023
  • God of War: Ragnarök has been given a November 9th 2022 release date amidst all the rumors of it not being ready and a potential delay.

When I first heard about a potential RDR 1 remaster I was ecstatic, so to hear that it’s being shelved is saddening. I’ve never really been a huge fan of the GTA series (I have them I just need to play them) so the stoppage of a GTA 4 remaster is less of a concern to me. Duel Screens announcing an indie games showcase is exciting due to the fact that I’ve recently found interest in that genre and I want to be in on the new and upcoming games. CRISIS CORE !!!! One of my favorite games of all time was recently said to be getting a remake and the preorders just went live on amazon this week. I will be getting a hardcopy of this and if they have a deluxe/special edition that’s going to be where my money is thrown. The Nacon Connect event showcased a few games with the most notable (IMO) being Robocop, the next Terminator game, and the dev diary for Hell is Us. Robocop was said to be in the works a few months ago and I was very excited after seeing the gameplay I was a little underwhelmed. I’m thinking what was shown was an early build or they’ll go in depth with more mechanics and systems shown to soothe my worries. The next Terminator game was shown as a teaser. All I have to say is that I have Terminator: Resistance, I just need to play it. Hell is Us has had me intrigued since it was shown in April. The dev diary let us into the thought processes and motives behind creative ideas. I’m very excited to see how that one pans out. Lollipop Chainsaw is a game with a specific fan base. Ironically I just picked up a copy of it a month before this remake was announced. I’m gonna play through the original and see if I should be genuinely excited about the Remake. GOD OF WAR RAGNARÖK HAS A RELEASE DATE !!!!! This is huge for Playstation. I’m an XBOX fanboy but God of War is an excellent franchise and the 2018 entry was breathtaking. With the fall season looking rather bleak, this one getting a November release date amidst the rumors of it not being anywhere near ready or a potential push back, is an amazing pleasant surprise. I’m genuinely excited and looking forward to playing this game when it drops on November 9, 2022. — XmanFiles

Introducing…. XmanFiles

1) My Preferred Platform and Why

Personally I prefer to play my games on XBOX. Halo was the original alluring thing about playing on XBOX but it soon developed into more. My GT “XmanFiles” was a thing way back when I played on Playstation but now it just seems “cooler” being that mine is original without any copies on XBOX. on playstation it had numbers after it. I joined the XBOX ecosystem during the “XBOX has no games era” and now i’m seeing it turn around, it just requires patience and faith plus the backwards compatibility program allowed me to go back and play some of my most loved 7th gen titles without having to go back and buy the necessary hardware. I don’t play on Playstation much because of the friendly rivalry between my dad and I (even though I own a PS4 with all the major 1st party titles because they’re damn good). I don’t play on PC because i’ve invested sooo much into consoles that getting a PC would be essentially starting over and a huge money investment. I have a switch which is starting to grow on me, it’s really my go to for some JRPGS and much much older titles and such as Star Ocean: First Departure or the Nino Kuni games.

2) Most Exciting Announcement

My most anticipated game is the Final Fantasy Crisis Core Remaster. I played the original on PSP and it is one of my favorite games of all time to the point where i’m going to get a tattoo that signifies the mantra/saying two of the main characters repeat throughout the game. Additionally this shows a push that XBOX is trying to be more prevalent in the East by capturing those titles for their console. I’m still holding out hope for the FF7 Remake trilogy to come to XBOX so I’ll be waiting for a long long time (not forever I hope) to play those works of art. I’m also excited for Soul Hackers 2, Persona 3,4 and 5, as well as the new Star Ocean game.

3) What I’m Playing Now

On XBOX i’m trying to go through all the Resident Evil games in chronological order. I’ve only played Resident Evil Remakes 2 and 3. I hope to be finished with those before the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake. I’m also playing Yakuza 0. that’s a series that i’ve always had interest in and I want to go through it as well. On my switch i’m Revisiting Star Ocean: First Departure because I never finished it on PSP and Monster Hunter Rise because I needed to scratch the itch that Monster Hunter World left behind.

4) A Game That I Wish Was In Development

I’ve always had a fascination with the bounty hunters in Star Wars so when I initially learned about The Mandolorian and Boba Fett shows, I was ecstatic. Boba Fett had one key character that I felt should’ve been expanded upon since his debut in the Clone Wars series and that character is Cad Bane. His contribution to the series as a whole spans from the Clone Wars to the time of the Galactic Empire. I don’t feel like we know enough about him plus he’s had some really cool adventures. I just think the bounty hunter concept as a whole would be perfect for a videogame spanning multiple planets and time periods. Maybe a nemesis system would be good for it as well.

Coming to the Stage… JusBernard

1) My Preferred Platform and Why

For more than 20 years, PlayStation has dominated gaming. I have played every console created and PlayStation 2 had to be one of the greatest eras of gaming. From the graphics, to the functionality and capabilities, to the games themselves. PlayStation 2 made me fall in love with gaming all over again. PlayStation has continued to wow an amaze me with games every generation after PlayStation 2. I am now and will likely die a PlayStation loyalist. Long live Play!

2) Most Exciting Announcement

God of War Ragnarok. I haven’t beaten God of War 2018 but plan to finish my playthrough before the sequel releases. It’s been amazing to see how they have completely recreated kratos’s persona while retaining the original storyline and evolving him.

3) What I’m Playing Now

Assassins Creed: Origins. The 60 frame patch makes this game look amazing on PlayStation 5 and I never went back and played origins. I have over 100 hours and Odyssey. I’ve been the main campaign. Have just been doing side quests as time permits. However, when they announced origins would be patched at 60 frames per second, it seemed like the perfect time to go back and play.

4) A Game That I Wish Was In Development

You already know the answer to this…….. KILLZONE!!! You will likely hear about this over the life of this blog until I get the game. I have been waiting so patiently for!!!!
