We missed last week and that’s okay because we were gaming and that’s always a good excuse. We’re back with a few things to address that went on this past week. We are going to introduce some new components to the site in the coming weeks so just keep an eye on the blog!

A New Ninja Turtle Game For Home Consoles
Well well! This comes as a welcome surprise! Something new that really switched up the formula for our heroes in a half-shell! A ninja turtle RPG!? I’m all for it! We’ve typically seen TMNT primarily as a hack-and-slash affair on multiple outings. This will be a refreshing change of pace for the crew. A third person action RPG is in the works. No word yet on who the developer is. The subject matter is said to have a more mature tone and to be based on the storyline for The Last Ronin. Without much other news shared at this time, one can only wonder about gameplay specifics such as character development, skills and abilities, and length of play for the main campaign. Maybe we’ll get more news later this year. – JusBernard
A Successful Critical Year For Playstation
Let me be the first to say I’m not surprised. Everyone knows the quality and careful execution Sony puts into its first-party game releases, as well as the third-party developers it decides to invest in. Even games that Sony would argue missed the mark (Days Gone) are often well-received and boast high production values. The hope now is that Sony continues this pattern as we move throughout the era of the PlayStation. 5. Sony’s picked up a number of new development studios and it can be hard to say whether or not they will actually be able to maintain the high caliber of AAA games. With E3 quickly approaching get some new announcements. My desire is that we hear a new announcement from new Sony studios. If there are new IPs announced from newly acquired studios, the hope will be that they can maintain the same level of quality as we’ve seen consistently from PlayStation. Let’s keep our eyes peeled and our fingers crossed! – JusBernard

Sony? A Monopoly?
Senator Maria Cantwell. Remember this name. How conspicuous is it that Senator Cantwell randomly contends that Sony has a monopoly on the high-end games market? Oh, really Senator? Would you mind sharing where you obtained this information? Would you mind telling us why you’ve decided to broach this topic at this moment? Why is this of interest to you? I’ll tell you why! Because Microsoft is in your pockets, that’s why! It is a well-known and well-documented fact that Microsoft has contributed heavily to Cantwell’s campaign. In fact, Microsoft is here a top contributor over the last 20 years! Nice try Phil! This gives the phrase, “Pay to play” a whole new meaning! – JusBernard
More Eastern Titles Please!
Sea Of Stars finally got announced for XBOX and I couldn’t be happier. This game looks good, and I wish it was released sooner. I want more games like this to hit XBOX. There was a leak earlier this week suggesting SMT 3,4, and 5 are also hitting the console this summer. Persona, SMT, and other games such as Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes are what I want to see more of on XBOX. I’ve been spending more time in the JRPG space but I see a lot of ports and sequels skip my preferred platform. Personally, I’d like to see the Ys franchise, the rest of the Tales games, Trails games, and a few others like FF16 and FF7R trilogy hit XBOX at some point. I will probably have played them all by the time that happens but I always love an excuse to play a game again. – XmanFiles

Arkane Could Have Another Banger
Red Fall has had another showing this past week and I must say that It has my attention. First, I must admit that I was too harsh on Deathloop. I took the time to play and beat it this past week and I found that I actually liked it which I’ll get into later. Red Fall could be a sleeper hit for me I don’t expect it to be a home run game by any means because it’s not reinventing the wheel rather than delivering us a variation of it. I think I am banking on it just being a technically and fundamentally solid game because that’s what it looks to be. The gunplay looks solid and the environments look somewhat immersive. There was a playtest for invitees and the reception has been mostly positive. Unless a game is glaringly flawed I save my final take for after I’ve played the game for myself so Im not going to say “AwE tHe GaMe Is GoOd” and I haven’t played it. This could be the first of a few MSFT games to start the run for XBOX we’ll just have to wait and see what the year brings to us. – XmanFiles
GDC and PAX East
GDC just passed and Ninja Theory took to the stage to show off Hell Blade Senuas Saga. When the trailer started I was sure there was a woman dressed as Senua on my screen and I couldn’t have been more wrong. UE5 is amazing. There’s nothing more I can really say. I want to see what games being remade in this engine look like. I don’t see this engine being replaced any time soon. I hope this makes more developers work on their engines to provide better quality experiences. That’s the main reason I like tech competitions, eventually, they force companies to use their tech in new ways or make new iterations of it.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. Final Fantasy was/is the main reason I bought my PS5. This year we get 2 mainline entries with 16 and 7 Rebirth and I can’t wait to play both of them. 16 was shown this past week and It looks so clean and fluid. People who dislike it because of the action based are going to miss out on what I hope to be a good experience. With a new set of eyes on the practices of Sony and Playstation I hope that they’ll both come to XBOX. – XmanFiles
